As we continue staying home and staying safe, we are happy to be able to bring you another installment in the #MakeArtVirtual series. This week we are bringing you something different!
Very Holly Moosemas by Jean Ciampi! Yes you read it correctly! This week we are bringing you a world premiere comedy by local playwright Jean Ciampi. This is a bit different for us, and a bit early, but we call it “Christmas in August” and we are fortunate that Jean has agreed to share her latest work with us. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
Synopsis: “Holly Anderson can create Christmas magic, which is why she’s been hired to decorate the sets for a holiday movie filming near Atlanta. When she shows up with her boxes of moose ornaments, her AirBnB host, Bert, isn’t sold on the holiday happenings and neither is Holly’s new groom. Can the scotch-drinking retired nun next door and Bert’s grandson, Bear, nurse them through broken toes and hearts to find the real magic where, perhaps, they don’t expect it?”

About the Playwright:
Jean Ciampi is a member of the Dramatist Guild of America, wrote her first full-length stage play, “Potato Gumbo”, while living in Saudi Arabia. It has had a number of successful and profitable productions, been selected for the Robert J. Pickering Award for Playwriting Excellence and was considered for the 2016 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. Her 2020 response to the COVID 19 pandemic was the light-hearted holiday show: “A Very Holly Moosemas.” Also a freelance writer, she wrote a snarky weekly newspaper column for nearly 12 years while her feature articles were frequently published in local, regional and national magazines. An experienced community theatre actress, director and producer with credits in Texas, Michigan and the Middle East, Jean spent most of her life on the Texas Gulf Coast. She currently lives in Midland, Michigan where she thinks it is far too cold.
