Season 103

#

Bay City Players is thrilled to announce Godspell, July 15-18, 2021. Due to COVID-19, we have adapted our season in a reimagined way and we will be offering our summer show outdoors at Wenonah Park in downtown Bay City.

Godspell was the first major musical theatre offering from three-time Grammy and Academy Award winner, Stephen Schwartz (WickedPippinChildren of Eden). An international hit, the score features “Day by Day,” “Prepare Ye the Way of the Lord,” “All for the Best,” “Turn Back, O Man,” “By My Side”, and several more joyous numbers.

A group of people help Jesus tell his parables by using a wide variety of games, storytelling techniques, and a variety of entertaining devices. An eclectic blend of songs, ranging in style from pop to vaudeville, is employed as the story of Jesus’ life unfolds on stage.

Kindness, tolerance and love come vibrantly to life.

Our Godspell will have a modern take and not include the hippies/clowns of previous productions. Through costumes, performers will represent members of our society. The underlying precept being our current society is in need to love “the Lord, your God, with all your heart and all your soul” and to “love thy neighbor as thyself”.

Tickets go on sale this Spring. More information coming soon.
