DIRECTOR’S CHOICE DOWNSTAGE
WHAT IS A DOWNSTAGE PRODUCTION?
- Small-scale production added to the regular season.
- Downstage in front of the grand curtain.
- Simplistic set that requires little or no construction, with pieces used from our stock.
- Rehearsals may need to be offsite to accommodate other shows that will be rehearsing.
- Proposed budget must be included in the proposal.
- Downstage shows run one weekend only.
- Guaranteed onstage production time for “Downstage” productions would be the week of performance, starting with tech Sunday and ending with the final performance.
- Great opportunity for local playwrights/directors to get their show on stage for the first time. Playwrights must plan to direct the show themselves or have a director selected.
Bay City Players is now accepting applications for our Director’s Choice Downstage slot for Season 109! All applications must be submitted by Friday, January 30, 2026.
Applicants will receive the results of their application by early March.
